Ingredients
  

  • 250 g penne pasta
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 250 g ground beef
  • 150 g Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 100 g pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 400 g marinara sauce
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 100 g cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Method
 

Cook the Pasta:
  1. Boil the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Meat:
  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Assemble the Casserole:
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta, followed by half of the meat sauce, half of the mozzarella cheese, and half of the pepperoni and bacon.
  3. Repeat the layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake:
  1. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Rest & Serve:
  1. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can swap penne for any short pasta like rigatoni or rotini.
