Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 6-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the sugars, buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently.
- Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and decorate as desired.
Notes
You can substitute buttermilk with milk and a teaspoon of vinegar.
Add sprinkles or edible flowers for decoration.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days
